As a Liverpool fan, i am worried about the possible loss of Javier Mascherano for the start of the 2008-2009 season.

The dates of the games are 8-24 August, so that means that any players involved will miss the important pre season build up, and possibly the opening few fixtures, as well as missing out on a well-needed rest (no worries here for Englands stars!!).

Liverpool have never really suffered from losing players to the African Nations, but the thought of Monster Masch going off to Beijing is a real concern.

But maybe he won’t go. Anyone shed some light?
