Spanish Cause & Effect

By: chris | October 9th, 2008 | No Comments »

Spain finally removed that crippling monkey from their back this summer and we now know their motivation: beer. Brewer Cruzcampo awarded each player their weight in beer, amounting to 5200 bottles for the entire team. No word if they’ve also been handed lifetime memberships to the Spanish equivalent of Alcoholics Anonymous, so we can only hope.

Pepe Reina came away with the biggest smile at 95.6 kilograms (211 pounds – or roughly 281 bottles), and Santi Cazorla will be bumming off his friends shortly at 70.4 kilograms (155 pounds – 207 bottles). (Do you suppose they did what boxers do after the “official” weigh-in and went to an all-you-can-eat buffet beforehand to beef up their totals?)

Luckily, we’ve also found the footage of what happened after they drank all that beer.
