Pick Your Team of the Year

Ever since 2001, UEFA have embraced the magic of the internet and asked readers of their website to vote on a Team of the Year. 2007 is nearly done with, so it’s that time again. Go to their website and vote for your first choice 11 from the shortlist of 60 players they’ve narrowed it down to. And don’t let the fancy graphics involved in choosing your team distract you, there are some tough choices that need to be made. Cristiano Ronaldo or Leo Messi at right midfield? Cesc Fabregas or Andrea Pirlo in central midfield. You can’t pick both. Martha’s already picked her team over at The Offside, so I’ve made my selection and pasted it below.

Pains me to have the likes of Pirlo and Messi on the bench, but would be equally painful to leave out Fabregas or Ronaldo. I particularly like the strikeforce of Zlatan and Drogba, that would definitely do some damage to any opposition defence. Think you can do better?
