Luca Toni Says Italy’s Euros Were SO Not His Fault

By: Laurie | July 18th, 2008 | 7 Comments »

Italy and Bayern Munich striker Luca Toni has finally decided to talk about Italy’s miserable Euro performance, and he wants us all to know that it was NOT his fault.

“In Italy I received a lot of criticism after the European Championships, because obviously people expected goals and I didn’t score any,” he told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“I thought I played well, but clearly it is easier to criticise me, someone who plays abroad, than someone who plays in Italy.”

Or, in other words, star strikers who play with clubs in their own countries and don’t score any goals don’t get any criticism.

I’m sure Germany/Vfb Stuttgart’s Mario Gomez would agree.

Sorry, Luca. Sucking is sucking, regardless of where you ply your trade.

Criticism from the press comes with being a professional. Even though it can be very hurtful, you have to learn to deal with it.

You are so right, sucking is sucking no matter where it is. Luca Toni must be a Roma because they are the best at blaming everyone but Romans!

Maybe if the rest of the team could get a decent cross to him every once in a while, he’d have scored a few. Can’t put ALL the blame on him…
