Kaka vs Ronaldo? No Contest

Brazil vs Portugal was billed as Kaka vs Ronaldo. If that was so, then someone raise Kaka’s arm. Brazil won 6-2 with the Jesus-owned playmaker pulling the strings.

More importantly this was Dunga vs Carlos Queiroz, two embattled coaches who couldn’t really afford a defeat. OK, it was only a friendly, but a 6-2 defeat to a former colony? That doesn’t bode well for Carlos Queiroz.

You can see the Portugal boss getting progressively depressed as the Brazilian goals fly in (the tv footage helfully cuts to him every time his team concede) culminating with a classic head in hands monent.

With Portugal currently third behind Hungary and Denmark in a World Cup 2010 qualifying group they should be winning, Carlos Queiroz will be looking over his shoulder and might want to call Alex Ferguson to see if his old job is still available.

I did not get to see the whole game, but what I did see consisted mainly of Kaka and co opening the Portugese defense like a can of tuna.

Caught this game on Brazil’s Globo TV, which I subscribe to. FANTASTIC, finally, we beat Portugal! We haven’t done it since 1989!!!!!!!!!! That’s also the first time Brazil have scored at home in awhile. Thank god it wasn’t in Rio because Rio’s a curse for the national team. (The game was in Brasilia). Kaka was just brilliant, ran the whole game.

too bad the atmosphere in non-traditional cities in Brasil is DEAD. and look at that hideus stadium.

Carlos Queiroz may never be a successfull head coach at country or club level. Maybe he is one of those coaches who will be fine with someone like Fergie playing the front man for him.

One thing is for sure, Scolari’s Portugal was far more effective than Queiroz’s.

absolutely depressing to watch, but many forget that Queiroz is the new National coach. He is coaching new players, new egos and so on. We need to give him time to develop the team to his own methodology. With Cristiano Ronaldo’s talent, things will start looking up. Great things will come to those who wait.
