Fo’ Shizzle: Beckham Coaches Snoop Dogg’s Kids
Ever worried about how David Beckham is going to fill that long gap between MLS seasons? Well worry no longer, seems old Golden Balls is finding all kinds of ways. There are money-spinning tours to Australia and New Zealand to go on, rancid table scraps to be auctioned and head to head Christmas ratings wars with Queen Elizabeth II to be contested, as well as a spot of celebrity soccer coaching. That’s right, Beckham took another step into the weird world of Los Angeles celebrity recently when he showed up at Snoop Dogg’s house to instruct the Dee Oh Double Gee’s offspring in the ways of the beautiful game.
Apparently Cordé, Cordell and Cori, Snoop Dogg’s three rather similarly named kids, demanded that daddy got Beckham round to show them what’s what. Beckham obliged, apparently spending several hours with the kids and “teaching them free kicks and dribbling tricks,” and was paid the princely sum of of a free trip to Roscoe’s House of Chicken ‘n’ Waffles, Snoop’s favourite restaurant.
Not sure which of his [ahem] many dribbling tricks Beckham imparted, but we’ll find out soon enough, when it airs in the US as an episode of Snoop Dogg’s Father Hood, January 20th on E!
I see this as a microcosm of Beckham’s decision to move to the US. Fantastic exposure for the sport of soccer and probably worth a quick look, but another nail in the coffin of Becks as a serious footballer.
