Confederations Cup Group B Liveblog: Egypt vs. USA AND Italy vs. Brazil

By: Laurie | June 21st, 2009 | 9 Comments »

Final day of the group stages in the Confederations Cup. What are we doing to celebrate? A great big jumbo liveblog. Both games, one liveblog, all your main-page bloggers in one spot. I think Chris is going to take charge of Italy-Brazil, Daryl is going to head up USA-Egypt, and I’ll maybe bounce back and forth between the two. At least until the pain of watching Bob Bradley’s men get slaughtered by play against another non-CONCACAF side becomes too much.

(On the plus side? Gold Cup coming up. We can OWN that one.)

Liveblog below, and be sure to leave lots of comments.

Starting Lineup Italy according to FIFA: Buffon, Chiellini, Cannavaro, Toni, De Rossi, Iaquinta, Camoranesi, Zambrotta, Montolivo, Pirlo, Dossena.

Brazil:
Julio Cesar, Maicon, Lucio, Juan, Felipe Melo, G Silva, L Fabiano, Kaka, Robinho, A Santos, Ramires

Egypt:
El Hadary, A. Elmohamadi, Hani, A. Fathi, Hosni, A Eid, M. Shawky, A. Farag, A. Abdelghani, W. Gomaa, Abo Terika

USA:
Guzan, Bornstein, Onyewu, Dempsey, Davies, Donovan, Bradley, Clark, DeMerit, Altidore, Specter

(And it took me till I got to the US to realize that these are in numerical order, not team position order. I need more caffeine.)

USA lineup out- still no Adu or Torres, I would love to see whatever they do in training that makes Bradley hate them.

well, USA pulled the trigger and they came out against all the odds and did it .. Eygpt played for a draw not a win. they should’ve aimed for the bigger fish and work to get the job done. they didn’t,, well the US got it all with great spirit.. they were uterly commited .. good for them..
