Clash of the Dramatic Titans: KSA & Bahrain.

By: chris | September 9th, 2009 | 9 Comments »

As Daryl mentioned Tuesday, Saudi Arabia v Bahrain was a huge match. Huge.

It didn’t disappoint. For fear of ruining the ending and the screaming commentary, we’ll just set it up:

The winner of the double legged tie goes on to play New Zealand for a spot in the World Cup. The first leg in Bahrain ended zero-zero, which meant any type of scoring draw sent Bahrain up against the Kiwis. Going into the 90th minute the scoreboard read 1-1, and four minutes went onto the clock.

Above is the final four minutes of the match. Enjoy.

I’ve watched it twice and it still gets to me. The passion of everyone in that stadium is palpable. You can feel the adrenaline… wow. Heavy props to Ismael “Iniesta” Abdullatif of Bahrain.

Also, the complete lack of females in the stadium is slightly disturbing.

Entertaining maybe but the standard of defending is shocking. As Nick has said, why no man on the post? And for the first goal, you’ve got two defenders in completely useless positions, they made it easy.

I agree, because its going to ruin the world cup. I watched practically every game from the last two world cups and was excited about the prospect of the confederations cup, until I started watching. Those jerks with plastic horns make the most god-awful sound. I just couldn’t watch any matches. I tried, but I could never watch more than about 10 minutes, it was just unbearable.
