Lionel Messi: Worth Twice the Price of Admission.

For each moment that Maradona has been a pompous, self-serving blowhard, he’s matched it with genius – even with his words:

“If that last chance had gone in, we would all have had to leave the stadium, pay for another ticket and come back in again.”

That’s in reference to Messi’s ‘miss’ against Venezuela, capping a brilliant game during which the limelight shone firmly on the halos atop his heaven-sent feet. The boy’s a genius.

For the rest of The Messi Show, highlights after the jump.

I don’t think there’s a player like him these days.
He’s such a pleasure to watch.

Isn’t it symbolic that the magician’s first goal as Arg. coach in a non friendly match was scored by none other than another magician, his heir, Leo Messi-in (of all places) Buenos Aires?

Word, Juliet.

Anyhow, I have always knew why Messi has to be one of my most favourite players at the moment.

This certainly was a brilliant performance, BUT Venezuela is the only team that has never qualified for the WC.

If Messi comes up with an equally good game in La Paz (which is actually impossible due to the altitude, I cannot remember that any of the Brazilian or Argentinian stars have ever shone at such altitude), I’ll eat my hat!

His second to last run in the game starting at the half-line was equally impressive.
