Berti Vogts Still Not Fired
Despite Nigeria’s abysmal performance at the Africa Cup of Nations, Berti Vogts still hasn’t been fired. Nigeria entered as one of the favourites but left as the biggest disappointment. They only decent 45 minutes Nigeria pput together came after Vogts was apparently udermined in the dressing room at halftime by Nigerian sports minister Amos Adamu.
It’s also being suggested that Vogts has no role to play in Nigeria, and no place in modern football at all. Certainly his spells with Kuwait, Scotland and now the Super Eagles would support this theory, harsh as it is. Now FIFA technical committee member Adegboye Onigbinde is urging the Nigerian FA to get it sorted and get rid of Berti.
The two for one World Cup 2010 and Africa Cup of Nations 2010 qualifying dance gets underway in just over three months time, with Nigeria facing a tough game against South Africa on May 30th. So the NFA need to do something, and do it pretty quickly.

Come on, Nigeria. If you’re going to stop the bleeding, you need rid of Berti. I actually, rarely for a Scotland fan, don’t think Berti is 100% awful. He helped develop some good youth for Scotland and I think he might be a very decent U21 coach somewhere. But he is well deserving of a stiff boot out of senior football, and this time, a permanent one.

I agree he’s not 100% awful. His biggest problem is that he’s not very good at adapting to foreign cultures. He pretty much complained his way through his spell with Nigeria.

Well, Berti beat them to the punch and terminated his contract himself. Everyone blames him but he blames the Nigerian FA…who is at fault? I say they split the blame 50-50.
