World Cup Quarterfinals
It started with 32 teams. Well, technically, it started with over 200 countries in qualifying, but we’re trying to keep things brief. Those 32 teams entered the group stage, and 16 came out to face the first knockout round. The eight sides that progress out of that round enter the World Cup 2010 quarterfinals, and are two wins from the final. So close, but there’s still work to be done. Last time around, in 2006, we saw two of the quarterfinals go down to penalties, but there was also an emphatic win, Italy 3-0 over Ukraine. What will be the story of this year’s quarterfinals?
