We know the 2010 World Cup odds before we know the teams

By: WC Bob | July 19th, 2007 | 8 Comments »

We don’t know who is even in the tournament, the group announcements are years away, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t already place a wager on whose going to win the 2010 World Cup. You’d have to be either a gambling junkie or someone who likes to lose money to do so, of course, but don’t let my skepticism stop you from making a fortune three years from now. The general favorites:

Brazil 4-1
Argentina 6-1
Italy 10-1
England 10-1
Germany 12-1
Spain 12-1
France 14-1
Netherlands 14-1
American Samoa 1,000,000,000,000,000,000-1

Dear Lord… here we go again. I hope this trend changes soon. Brazil’s greatest weakness is favoritism. People! Look how Argentina played this last Copa America! Take the heat on them! Let the Seleção alone!

I don’t mean to sound completely biased, given that I write for the Portuguese Liga blog over on the Offside, but Portugal at 25-1 smells like a heck of a decent value bet.

I am not someone that likes to lose money but I would gladly put it on Argentina since after the copa america they are going to change things up and are going to win! I will always vote for them….jmtc

The safest money would be to bet on Brazil, Germany or Italy.

Don’t touch Spain, England, Holland and to a lesser extent Argentina. These top countries seem to be perennial chokers.
