Team of the Day, Man of the Day: When looking at the Swiss it’s pretty easy to forget they’re headed by one of the best coaches in the world presently, of his lengthy generation and some may even say history. But it took very little genius to realize that Spain were going to press them back…and back…and back…and that either they could do it involuntarily in tatters, or do it by plan, giving them a chance.

By plan it was, and was it magnificent. Of course that’s not to say Ottmar Hitzfeld doesn’t deserve the credit – he’s not known as a miracle man for nothin’

Player of the Day: Someone once commented (smartly) Diego Benaglio is one of Europe’s underrated keepers. (Ahem.)

Pretty damn rated now.

Dive of the Day: They don’t call him the new Cristiano Ronaldo for nothin’.

Of course unlike Cristiano, he played exceptionally well and his team actually won. Maybe CR should try that with Portugal sometime.

Rubbish Award Award: This is from yesterday, but one tends to be reminded of Ronaldo-related matters whenever diving enters the discussion.

Apparently throwing one’s self in the air is now grounds for Man of the Match. Do you see what this World Cup has descended to?

YouTuber of the Day: Someone snapped North Korea State Television’s feed of the Brazil highlights. It’s a spoof, but it’s probably eerily spot on.

Fan of the Day: Are those individually applied? They appear to at least be separated. If so, that’s loyalty at its finest.

Matchup of the Day: Once again the fans have seemed to shy away, so we cheat. Iker’s latest flame and…a Swiss-wearing lass, who may not be safe for work. She may not be safe for a lot of things, really.
