North Korea vs Brazil, as Edited for State TV by Kim Jong-il

You heard the rumour that North Korean state TV will be showing heavily edited highlights of the World Cup? Well, here’s your first look.

Not really. Before anyone freaks out, let me make it clear that this is fake. Kim Jong-il did not edit these highlights for state TV. Rather, epmnz edited the highlights for lols on YouTube.

I’d still love to know if that rumour was true though, and if so, what exactly said highlights look like. Maybe epmnz is auditioning for the job?

The audio is from Japanese announcers for some Japanese national team game, but I can't figure out which one. It is not a World Cup match, but maybe qualifying or the Asian Cup.
Also the missed shot at 42 seconds in is a mistake because the video after the miss has more Brazilians closer to the goal than the North Koreans. Thus it was a North Korean attempt, not a Brazilian attempt. Or the Brazilians really sprung the offside trap!!

We'll never see edited videos from N. Korea. Kim Jong-il would not allow it. He has his country fed only what he wants them to hear. North Koreans live in the Truman Show.

While in university I worked as a research assistant for a professor who was (probably still is) writing a book on East Asian energy policy. I would find translated news stories about oil pipelines and nuclear power and such. When they came from the North Korean press they were always hilarious. “Great Leader gives unveils historic sword at Russian embassy” and such. It would be worth someone's time to find such a service that a university student could get access to through their library and see what was being written in the NK press.

Often South Korea picks up on North Korean TV broadcasts and publishes them, thus giving the US access to them. I know in the Laura Ling and Euna Lee case when Clinton went as an envoy (which was supposed to be a completely covert mission), the secret got out almost immediately because the S. Koreans picked up on a broadcast of Kim Jong-Il and Clinton and then the whole world knew within hours (perhaps even minutes).
