Let the Three-Year countdown to the 2010 World Cup begin

It was almost exactly a year ago that Philipp Lahm scored the first goal of the 2006 World Cup in Germany. Today, he is in South Africa hammering nails and making sure that the stadiums get built on time since it is exactly three years from today that the first game will kick off. Talk about a hard working dude. And you thought all he did was sit around playing video games. Actually, Lahm was there as part of a delegation of players from the Bundesliga as part of a goodwill/branding tour to help everyone get fired up about the 2010 World Cup. Owen Hargreaves was a no show much like his England team was in 2006.

Excellent comment about Owen Hargreaves, I enjoy the subtle humor of your editor.

What took you so long Bob? I was waiting for this topic yesterday (June 11th) and the irony of it all is that June 11th is my birthday, and on that day three years from June 11th 2007 the 2010 World Cup will kick off. Up South Africa 2010!!!!
