Here’s the latest from our correspondent Ben in South Africa who is keeping a close eye on the World Cup that will take place 48 months from now. Apparently in exchange for awarding the tournament to South Africa, FIFA boss Sepp Blatter was presented with an honorary doctorate from Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University this week. It was during the presentation that Blatter said that he thinks South Africa has what it takes to host the world’s greatest sporting event. Not much of a surprise there, but it is something we’ll probably hear a lot over the coming years when others raise questions about South Africa’s infrastructure, etc. For all things South Africa, Ben’s blog is the single best place to go.
