England 1-1 USA, in Lego
Thought you’d seen every highlight there was to see of England 1-1 USA? Not until you’ve seen it recreated in Lego you haven’t. Laurie sent me this yesterday, but it was on the Guardian website and unembeddable. Then I saw today that Dirty Tackle had found a YouTube version, and considered it my duty to share. Because this thing is superb.
I love the attention to detail, like how all the numbers are correct and the movement of all players is recreated perfectly. But I also love how the jerseys are glued on semi-amateurishly. But what I especially love are the smiley faces. The unchanging smiley faces. To see Robert Green commit that error and bury his head in the floor just like he did this past Saturday is impressive, but to see him lift up his head and reveal the same manic smile as before gives this whole recreation an extra edge. And a whole new reason for England fans to have nightmares about their goalkeeper.
More at Lego fussball, where they’ve also recreated Germany’s 4-0 win over Australia. Or read our Offside post to see a variety of football stadiums made out of Lego.
