Egypt still might make South Africa, Ivory Coast are there

By: Rob | October 10th, 2009 | 7 Comments »

That goal could prove to be pretty important in terms of World Cup Qualifying. Egypt needed a win to stay in the hunt for 2010, and they got that win thanks to that fabulous strike. What it means, is that there will be a HUGE match between Egypt and Algeria on Wednesday. the 14th on November.

Algeria are still favourites – if they win today they’ll be three points clear of Egypt with a better goal difference – but it does mean that the African champions are not buried just yet

Meanwhile, a Didier Drogba strike gave Ivory Coast a guaranteed spot in the World Cup pot, as the 1-1 draw they ground out against Malawi proved enough to make them unsurpassable at the top of their group.

Bring it on.

correction: Egypt – Algeria is on the 14th of November in Cairo stadium

i challenge the best teams of the world to play in africa, very bad stadiums, horrible fields and unbearable atmosphere beside the noisy african fans who come to your hotel the night before the game so you can’t sleep, of course not all contries but the majority!!!!

we will be there isa!!

EGYPT all the way. ISA they will make to south Africa again. Rwanda still have hopes to go to the Africa cup of nations cause that will mean they have 2 points if they draw and they will face Zambia at home. GOOOOOO EGYPT

COME ON RWANDAAAAA!!!!

A bit off subject but I feel its a joke that Africa does not get a couple more spots in the tournament now… Would you really rather watch Switzerland or Poland in their perrennial spots, or would you rather Cameroon, Egypt, Algeria, Senegal etc… Fifa need to look at this- it should have been for this WC in Africa but in the future their needs to be a change

It will be a dramatic finish for Egypt/Algeria as well as Cameroon and Gabon and Nigeria/Tunisia. And Morocco may not even make it to Angola.

3 Groups are still on fire, with all to play for…But I think the Egypt – Algeria clash will be the most dramatic, having both contenders pitted face to face in the final game of the qualifiers

So far Egypt got 10 points and hardly played any enjoyable football. Football is a game that fan pay maney to enjoy. The only Team that played enjoyable football is the one who has been leading from day one of course Algeria. With a good referee against Rwanda the score should have been 5-1 and the qualification would have been ensured by now. It was injust for the referee not to count two good goals. May Allah help them go through this time because they deserve it.
