2010 World Cup will begin and end in Johannesburg

Johannesburg, South Africa will be the place to be in the summer of 2010. FIFA announced Wednesday that the Soccer City stadium in Johannesburg will be the venue for both the opening game and the final of the 2010 World Cup.

The stadium was built in 1987 and it currently can hold about 80,000 people. It was the venue for the 1996 African Cup of Nations final. It is being renovated and expanded for the World Cup and come 2010 it will be able to fit you and 93,999 of your closest friends.

FIFA also announced that the draw for the World Cup will be pushed back a couple of days until November 25. Slackers.

Actually its going to be winter in the Southern Hemisphere so everybody had better pack their longjohns!
It gets pretty cold in Johannesburg in winter with daytime temperatures at around 14 degrees celcuis.

15 celuis is not that cold. take it from a canadian. they wont feel it once they get running. i predict a big finsih, with big national teams such as Argentina, Italy, Brasil, Germany, or any former time world cup champion, repeating thier glory.
