2010 World Cup Qualifying Draw on November 23, 2007 in Durban
FIFA has made it official. Durban will host the draw for the qualifying round of the 2010 World Cup on November 23, 2007. When I read this I was a bit confused because qualifying in South America is slated to begin in September and Africa qualifying will commence in mid-October but then I did a little research. Apparently the draw will be just for the European, Asian and the North, Central American and Caribbean Zones and frankly there probably aren’t enough ping pong balls to draw out of bins for every country in the world so those regions are more than enough. Besides, we wouldn’t want Heidi Klum’s arms to get too tired.
FIFA has more information about the preliminary round. I am surprised that they don’t have a dedicated Web site up for the 2010 World Cup up yet. Maybe they are waiting for World Cup Blog to do an upgrade so that they can steal our ideas. Our upgrade should happen this summer. It is going to be cool, my friends. Very cool.
