100 Days Until World Cup 2010 Kickoff

SOUTH AFRICA WCUP 100 DAY COUNTDOWN

There were celebrations in South Africa today to mark the 100 day countdown to World Cup 2010. OK, yes, 100 is just an arbitrary number. There’s no real reason to celebrate 100 days to World Cup kickoff anymore than there is to celebrate 102 days to World Cup kickoff. I suppose 100 is just a nice round number.

But somehow this feels good. I think maybe because 100 days is short enough to make the tournament feel close. Soon 100 will be 50, then 10, then just one, and then… kickoff. Is anyone else suddenly a bit excited?

I’ve been excited ever since the final whistle in Berlin nearly 4 years ago. It was nice however to jump to espn’s home page and see a full home page spread of world cup news.

Anyone know what was the official ruling on the usage of vuvuzela’s at the world cup? God I hope they ban them…sorry but I cant stand the constant bee buzzing.

No special reason, it’s really about going into double figures (instead of triple) thereafter. It’s like asking why does the NASA countdown start at 10 – because after that it’s all single figures.

Mig-L, that actually makes a lot of sense.

So close, yet so far away!

At least winter is coming to an end, thank god.

Hey, does anyone know the deadline for having the 23-man squad given to FIFA?
