Germany will certainly be the favorite in Group D, but they will face stiff competition from all three group rivals. Australia and Ghana both impressed at World Cup 2006, reaching the round of 16 for the first time in both countries’ history, and their fans will be looking for a repeat. Ghana in particular will be motivated to do well in the first World Cup on African soil. And not to be forgotten are the Serbs and their hard-nosed defenders Nemanja Vidić and Branislav Ivanović.
