Zidane Hints at Circus Clown Career

By: WC Bob | February 27th, 2006 | 1 Comment »

There has been a lot of speculation about France midfielder Zinedine Zidane’s future. Will he retire from football after the World Cup? Will he return for another year at Real Madrid? Today we learned a little more about his future plans. Zidane is thinking about becoming a circus clown.

Clown on a BallTo be fair, what Zidane told L’Equipe newspaper was that he was serious about playing for France in the World Cup. “You know, I did not come back to play the clown,” he said. “Now that I am here, it is to go to the end! It is to win.”

While World Cup Blog is saddened to learn that Zidane won’t be donning a red nose and big wig in Germany (we still miss Valderrama), we are heartened to learn that becoming a clown is something to which Zidane has given thought.

We only hope that once he ends his fine football career he joins this much underrated and much misunderstood profession.
