difficult to predict, the 4 teams played very well and have excellent coachs.
Germany are well organized with excellent attackers.
Italy have great defense and fast attackers.
Portogual plays with excellent team work.
France have Zidane, who showed us that he can still be the most effective player in a team.

I hope Germany beats Italy and France beats Portogal and then Germany beats France for the World Cup

I am going to go with Germany over Italy and France over Portugal.

I am also hoping that France will take the final. Zidane is an amazing player who seems to set free by knowing that each moment could be his last. The French have also shown themselves to be remarkably patient, yet quick on the attack as an aopportunity presents itself.

In any event, both semi-finals should be exciting to behold.

As an England fan I feel cheated, but I do now want Portugal to win it purely because they have never won the world cup (the other 3 teams left all have) and the was very unlucky to loose against Greece in the European championship final.

I would have granted it to portugal because they never won it before, but I don’t like their attitude and I also don’t think they are really that good. France will beat them, and I think Italy is going to cause great disappointment in Germany.

I will go as far as saying that Italy will win the World Cup for the fourth time. Not just beating Germany and reach the final.

For someone who comes from a nation that plays no football worth its name, brazil has been the passion of a lifetime. And in this cup i also rooted for a country with which i have strong emotional bonds – Australia. As far as i have made it out, Germany seems to be on a roll. My prediction:

Well Germany won the cup on Italian soil in 1990. I think they are going to repay the favour. As for Portugal, I’m afraid I can say with 100% certainty that France will be in the final partly because it’s Zidane’s final international tourney and Philipo has already had success with Brazil in the last World Cup and will not repeat. I think it will be an Italy-France final and Italy will take the cup. France was already gifted a world cup and european championship back to back with Italy bowing out to them in both tournaments. I think Germany will win their fourth title in 2010. In general, it seems to be a tournament of repaying favours.

You guys are idiots if you think all this bad officiating, fighting and diving aren’t put into the game on purpose. It makes it more exciting. It’s not ruining the game it’s creating a larger audience, after all everybody loves controversy, it is just the sick society we have become. Give the people what they want!

So far Italy is playing the best team work. They have great defense that can take you out of your game. Wow… a tough one. After the performance France put on against Brazil, I can not count them out. Think they’ll beat Portugal and make it into the Final.

I’ll go with Italy and Portugal. I see most people are going with Germany and France, but I can’t really understand that… Germany plays bad football, the only thing they have going for them is the fact that they’re well organized as a team (plus the home factor…). I don’t really see Italy having too much trouble winning there. As far as France vs. Portugal is concerned, do you really think that Portugal is going to stop now? I believe Italy will play a great game vs Germany but beatthem 1-0. People dont seem to realize Itlay has the best Goalee in the world, Italy has the best deffence in the world and Italy does know how to counter attack really good. Also no other team has scored on Buffon in this world cup. the only goal we have is an own goal. Now 4 the other game I really think France ties Portugal. I personaly think that France is Better than Portugal, but others have convinced me. Beating Brazil probaly has gotten to their heads and now they are going to not play the best they could. Finals is going 2 be Italy and France. Italy is going 2 win the whoel thing though.

It seemed to me in the Italy-Ukraine game that Italy had some short players on the field. This will cause Italy some major problems on set pieces where the Germans excel. I think the German height advantage will be the key. The confidence of the German team has to be high now after defeating Argentina. I wish we had more rest but our fitness is far superior to anyone else. The game could easily be decided on PKs and that is advantage Germany. The French have played some awesome soccer against Spain and Brazil. Portugal has not really impressed me. I think the two neighbors will be meeting on June 9th. (Germany vs. France). Portugal will beat France. Everyone underestimated them going into the England match. Just because France was able to pull one over Brazil does not mean that they can go in and coast through the Portugal game. Portugal plays rough soccer, they’re not going to give up, so to think that France has it easy against Portugal is, in my opinion, ludicrous. That being said, Portugal does not have it easy against France, either. But I think that judging by the England game and the Netherlands games, they’re on a roll, not going to stop anytime soon, and the France game will be a great extension of that. Nothing is predictable in soccer. But either way, this proves to be a great match. I can’t wait. I have a feeling this one will go into penalty kicks, though, but maybe with a 1-1 tie before that.

Germany and Italy is harder to call. I’m rooting for Italy, merely because an Italy v. Portugal final would be amazing.

I wish Portugal would win against France….however, the reality is that France has the mommentum and psychologicaly hold an edge against Portugal based on their historic football encounters. On the other game, although, Germany has the homecourt advantage, their players are young and lack experience at the world cup stage. don’t know if i’m predicting or hoping for the following:

portugal should remind the italians by a large score preferably that they are not defending the world cup. not since…. a couple of self goals would help inflate the score.

and as for france, i think they should beat germnay simply beacuseas of yesterday they are a better team, and it would put paid to all the conspiracy theories about blatter and germany buying this cup.

and that should set us up for a great final where the 2 teams will play end to end football with nothing to lose, as no one was expecting too much of them anyway.

now that i have the match ups correct, it’s a real pity. the most enteratining teams, france vs portugal, which should be considered the final, is something i dont want to comment on. they both deserve the cup.

as for italy, time and time again, a very favourable draw has gotten them a chance to bore all us neutrals to tears, advancing much further than their talents deserve. i am praying that they get a serious beating and go home and rethink their strategy since 1974.

with a france/portugal vs germany final, i think the home team will be disappointed with the result.

i am really excited to see germant and italy, i dont think that italy has the best team in the world, and they have got extremley lucky with the teams that they have played throughout the world cup, id take germany to win it all. i am dissapointed with argentina, because i think that they had the most potential out of all the teams, and when it comes down to pk’s any team can win.

For those of you who don’t know only in march 2006 in Florence. Italy and Germany played a world cup exhibition with there full world cup squads, and full coaching sceams. and Italy routed the germans 4-1…………..Yessssssss 4-1 it was so bad germany wanted to fire klinsman as the coach. So far the only good team germany has beat is argentina and Argentina had problems with mexico. so to look at the game in it’s proper perspective germany italy is like Italy Vs Mexico Guess the outcome of that game 2-1 Italy wins!!!!!!!!!

I know France vs. Germany would be enthralling. The home team, a traditional juggernaut (who you’d have to consider a lock for the cup based on history and the current circumstances) vs. the defining player of the generation, going for his second Cup. I really hope France pull it out, but between the home support and what is always slightly biased home officiating it will be VERY VERY DIFFICULT (which would make a victory all the more spectacular).

Whatever happens I hope the semis bring out the best football out of the four remaining teams.

We’ve definitely caused enough drama in this tournament. Well with Figo’s Head butting and Ronaldo’s winking. The whole world makes it sound like we KILLED the other TEAMS.

If this was Hockey. None of those players will have any TEETH left. Yet everyone makes a big deal out of a head butt and some stupid pushing.

I think Portugal will take the trophy home.

The final will definitely be Germany and France. Italy cannot beat Germany on their soil. Portugal is not that good; they play dirty and they suck at penalty kicks. Germany will beat Italy. The German crowd alone could make sure of that as we saw with Argentina.
France will without doubt win the final; they have too much momentum after beating Brasil and besides, they have Zizou and Henry!!! Allez les Bleus!!!!!!

For all of you who say italy hasn’t played a strong team yet… HELLO??!! the Czechs.. second in the world… USA 5th in the world… dont forget italy has onlly allowed 1 own goal and is undeaten in 23 games. The home advantage is sorta eliminated since germany is the home of more than 600,000 italian immigrants. And don’t forget the tourists. The stadium will probably b half german half italian. Plus with Luca toni and TOTTI back in their games… Germany is good but:

Protugal will win this, they got momentum and many key players back. Zidane is good, but he wont win. Portugal will outspeed and out-endure france. The win vs Brazil was just a lack momentum and over-confidence on the BRazilian’s part. Plus france is entirely relying on Zidane.

The final: Italy 2-1 Portugal.

It will be a very tight game but italy’s top notch defence and goaltending will take it while Totti and others will take advantage of Portugals’ mistakes. Both teams will score in the middle of the game while italy will score a last minute one…. no not a penalty kick. End of story!

My background is Portuguese with a tad Brasilian. I cheer for Brazil for World Cup and was disappointed when they lost to France (I lost a bet too!) Ok…my second choice is Portugal to win. As a matter of fact, on that Sat if I had to pick one team to advance, I picked Portugal because to see them go ALL the way would be sweet indeed. The underdogs that everyone seems to think just cannot make it. Yes France is strong and play well but Portugal has heart,spirit and a hunger to win. The first World Cup to go to Portugal would be sweet indeed! FORCA PORTUGAL!!!!
I already know Italy won so I say it’ll be Italy vs Portugal. Either way, big party on the streets of Toronto! PS. I love my Italian friends ;)
