World Cup Tickets: Will they ID us?
After my morning World Cup read, I got out my digging deep blogger pants to find that scoop that no one else knows about. First stop, the yahoo homepage. Wow – an article about potential long lines and ticket problems.
Some Quotes from the Article that I liked
“Responding to reports that FIFA didn’t want him to speak at the opening ceremony, Beckenbauer said he “couldn’t care less.”
and
“FIFA chief Sepp Blatter said this week he feared complicated ticket controls would lead to lines outside stadiums, empty seats inside and potential crowd trouble.”
and
“Schmidt said personal identification checks will be random and the number of such controls determined game by game.”
It sounds to me like they won’t be checking everyone or almost no one. Not sure how they could. Anyway, I will personally be at the first game (or someone from WCBlog) between Germany and Costa Rica – at least outside the stadium to report via our upcoming moblog (mobile blog) how long the lines are, if each patron is being ID’ed or not. We should figure out how to take bets on the percentage of folks ID’ed.

I think they’ll id…
They’ll have those guys walking down the lines, making announcements to have your id ready when coming through the turnstile, like they do at the airport…
And they’ll probably glance at the ids.
It’ll be a risk to go with someone else’s name on your ticket.
You’ll probably have 50/50 shot of getting in.
