World Cup Poetry

Watching a player like Thierry Henry move around the pitch is sometimes like watching poetry in motion. But little did you probably know that in fact poetry is being created this World Cup….by a machine. As part of a FIFA-sponsored project, a machine has been created to churn out poems about each of the 64 matches in this year’s competition. You can listen to some audio examples and if you know a bit of German you can check out some of the automated World Cup poetry. Now if we could just figure out a way to automate the referees….

The only poem I like is “Casey at the Bat”. Are they producing something like that? Ihave always sucked at interpreting poetry. I need something more mathematical that makes sense to me and not something like “The Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner”.
