Reading, writing and football. Schools in Argentina will be showing the World Cup in their classrooms this year in an effort to reduce the inevitable truancy that occurs when kids get hooked on watching the world’s greatest sporting event. A 47-page booklet that helps teachers to plan lessons around the World Cup has been created. “I don’t think there’s anything wrong with turning on a television in a classroom or in a playground to watch a match together,” said Argentina’s Education Minister Daniel Filmus. “It can be a very enriching experience.” Where was this man when we were kids? God bless him.
