Winners and Losers of the World Cup
The chapter closes on another week as we continue along the wayward path towards the ultimate destination, the World Cup. The momentum is beginning to build as more teams announce their rosters, more friendlies are played and we have more opportunities to learn how to spell metatarsal. The past week we exposed you to a historic LiveBlog, the start of an annoying hero worship, more talk of the apocalypse, and a grown man, well, exposing his willy. Along the way we also talked a bit of football. Here are some of the winners and losers from the past seven days.
Winners
Geography – You have no excuse for not being able to find the World Cup countries and for not keeping current with the news.
Coffi Codjia – Even big kids need a hero so why not worship a referee from Benin?
World Cup XI – The readers have spoken and this is our team even if we might have some positioning problems. We’ll work on that for 2010.
Inside scoops – Euler is still smiling from ear to ear.
History – Not only did we offer an unprecedented LiveBlog of a roster announcement, but we made history by having the LiveBlog break. More liveblogging history and technical glitches ahead in the coming weeks. Stay tuned.
Losers
.000001% of the world’s population – The nightmares we’ve had imaging the lives of the very few who don’t know about the World Cup.
Bratwursts – Some are more fun to watch than others.
Poland – First there is the exhibition loss to Lithuania, next there is news that the might be having trouble lining up hooligan friendlies.
Injuries – There are some guys your team simply can’t afford to lose.
