What are your World Cup Superstitions?
Over on the main FIFA sight there is a fun article that talks about the various superstitions that some of the players and coaches have. From phobias of colors to numerology to rubbing a bald keeper’s head before every match, there are no shortage of rituals and routines that are performed in the name of good luck. I’m guessing that the players aren’t alone when it comes to superstitions. If you are like me, you’ll try anything to bring your team a bit of luck.
When I am supporting my local club, I will wear the same shirt until they lose. The team hardly ever goes on long winning streaks so most of my shirts are in good condition. I’m also a big believer in standing in the exact same spot for every match. Things just don’t feel right when I am not there.
For the World Cup, I plan of wearing my Angola jersey each day they play. Heck, if they win their opening match against Portugal I may never take the thing off. I’m sure I’ll develop some other superstitions as the tournament progresses and I see what works and what doesn’t.
How about you? Do you have any rituals or routines when you support your team?
