What are your Country’s Chants and Songs?

By: WC Bob | April 4th, 2006 | 15 Comments »

World Cup Blog has had multiple inquires from media organizations looking to compile fan chants for the various World Cup teams. Remembering that this is a somewhat family friendly site, it would be much appreciated if you could leave a comment with a chant/song or two that people from your country sing during matches. This can be in English or the country’s language, just let us know the country it is from. Your help with this is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Vamos, vamos
Argentina
Vamos , vamos
a ganar
que esta banda
quilombera
no te deja
no te deja
de bancar.

let’s go x 2
Argentina
Let’s go x 2
to win
that this riot gang
won’t cease x 2
to back you up.

this is the basic chant, there are a couple more that are even simpler than this one (Ar-gen-tina, Ar-gen- tina) (Ole x4, Diegooo, Diegooooo), but the professional fan, the one that goes to the stadium every weekend, well, the always amazed me with their repertoir, i mean full songs, poems, etc. I’ll be damm if i could remember any of them.

I got another short one

Despacito, despacito, despacito
les rompemos
el culitoooooo.

dedicated to you all !!! Cheers

People are really looking for this at google. On my personal blog, where I rarely talk about football there’s been some people ho got there by writing “chants songs national team” on google.

Brazil used to have nice songs in the past but now, after the TV channel Globo made their own song, it’s the same one, year after year.

The one I like most, is “Que bonito é” the song that became immortal by “Canal 100″ which use to produce some football documentaries here in Brazil many years ago.

I believe they are the same crew that produce “Two Billion Hearts” the great movie about the 1994 World Cup

The basic chant for Japan is

Nippon
(clap clap clap)
Nippon
(clap clap clap)

And “Nippon” would be replaced by a players’ names at various points in the match.

Then there’s the Boca-inspired “Vamos Nippon”
O, vamo Nippon,
Nippon, Nippon
Vamo Nippon
Hey, hey, hey hey hey hey

There are more complex songs and tournament-specific songs, but the above two seem to be the most commonly used.

U S A! (pause) U S A!

Which i hate – i need some creative folks from the US to chime in with some better songs. I remember one about Sammy’s army but i can’t remember the words.

HELP END this lame Chant.

I like the Argentina song a bunch and i know an english one for Germany that is simple but funny:

“Two World Wars
and One World Cup
Doo Dah Doo Dah”

and of course You’ll Never Walk Alone which I associate with my beloved Reds from Anfield but it is also an England song as well as AC Milan and others.

You can make anything sound good when you have 30,000 people chanting it at the same time.

There is an England World Cup song that really hits the spot. It’s called ‘Our Finest Hour’ by Winsome and the Churchills it is a vert rousing fan friendly version of Land of Hope and Glory with a witty voice over it of Winston Churchill (soundalike). It really should be the official World Cup song for England as it hits the spot.It is available now as a ringtone for mobiles all you do is text ‘get winsome’ to 60999,you do need a wap enabled phone. It should be released soon on CD and on the net so watch out for it it’s brilliant.

vamos vamos… argentina
vamos vamos… a ganar

vamos vamos… argentina
vamos vamos… a ganar
que esta barra quilombera
no te deja, no te deja de alentar

vamos vamos… argentina
vamos vamos… a ganar
que esta barra quilombera
no te deja, no te deja de alentar
