Vieira Gassed and Robbed in his Sleep
Patrick Vieira has been cleared to resume practicing at France’s World Cup training camp after burglars used gas to knock out him and his family during a robbery at the Cannes home. The gas was pumped in through the house’s air conditioning, keeping Vieira and his family asleep while the thieves walked away with jewels and his Mercedes. Simply a crazy story and one that is surely unsettling for the French player as he prepares for the World Cup. I’ve heard of this type of thing happening on trains before but have always considered it an urban myth. Any of you ever have this happen to you or know someone who has been gassed in their sleep?

By SteveG | May 24th, 2006 at 4:04 pm This happened to me and my 3 friends in a train compartment in Southern Italy in 1993. Cameras and money stolen… and it must have been gas b/c the thieves would have had to practically walk on us to get to our things.

By DeKaY | May 25th, 2006 at 5:02 am Heard it happen to my neighbours before. A woman and her baby daughter went asleep “very tightly” after being gassed during sleep, to wake up in an “empty” apartment… crazy!
But that ain’t shocking news. I’ve heard much more shocking news, and not just in Russia. This happens EVERYWHERE!

By lee | August 3rd, 2007 at 6:50 am We have just returned to australia from a trip to Europe. we did for the most part have a lovely time. however we pulled over in a truck/rest stop at Montelimar in the Sth of France and commented on what great services are offered to travellers. We were tired and I remember hearing a bang on the roof but foolishly went off to sleep. My young adult daughters camera and other things such as money were stolen while we slept.The camera is replaceable but all her memory cards were kept in the case. It was so disheartining. We unusually slept in that morning and they were clever enough to take money and put the wallets back so we didnt notice straight away. There was a young man who was working in the rest area cleaning around the grass area wearing an orange work jacket dark hair clean shaven who looked at me that morning as if waiting for a reaction but at that point we did not realise until a little while down the road when we went to get money and then we noticed the cameras. We did report it to the police. We were gased it does happen. All four people in the motorhome slept through this robbery.I am curious as to the type of gas they use exactly what is it. oh and if any one hears of photos or of a new olympus water and shock proof camera being sold around that area…. no thats long gone but the photos could be somewhere you never know…..
