The World Cup’s Best Coach
Over on WCB’s Japan Blog, you see a list of the top national coaches in the world as voted by the acronym-challenged International Federation of Football History & Statistics (IFFHS).
The list is almost as interesting for who is not on it, as who is.
Notably absent are England’s Sven-Goran Eriksson and Australia’s Guus Hiddink. Both men are poised to make major bucks when they take new coaching gigs after the World Cup and both have the reputation as being among the best in the business.
Some Argentina fans might also be scratching their heads when they see Jose Pekerman listed as the third best in the world. I know I am.

The list looks slanted towards those technicians who have managed to score the posh jobs. What about the hard working grunts who have performed such great work for the minnows of the world.
One cannot help but note the successes of those such as the Grandmaster, Ratomir Dujkovic has had with Myanmar, Rwanda and now Ghana, or the notable success that Tunisia has had under Roger Lemerre (ignoring the ignoble France 2002 debacle).
