Yesterday we learned that the World Cup footballs come from factories in Thailand. Today we learn that the turf comes from a farm in Holland where the grass is grown in a top secret location that is frequently monitored by FIFA’s Turf Competence Team. We’re not sure what the Turf Competence Team actually does, but if it requires walking barefoot through fields of grass we would love to apply for a position there. Tomorrow we hope to bring you additional random information perhaps a story on where the chalk used in the World Cup comes from or an inside look at FIFA’s Corner Flag Regulation Unit.
