The End of an Era

The Greekfreak over on our South Korea blog has punched out an interesting post where he lists the top 10 players he thinks will be saying their international good-byes after the World Cup this summer. When I look at his list, I can’t help but think that we are seeing the proverbially passing of the torch from one generation of great players to another generation of up and coming players. To a certain degree this happens at every World Cup, but when I look back at all the hours I have spent enjoying the magic of these players, it seems to me that this group’s departure from the world stage will leave a bigger hole in my heart than most. Hopefully they will be able to conjure up some final magic this summer.
