The Brazilian Influence

By: WC Bob | April 2nd, 2006 | 5 Comments »

I came across this interesting article today about the number of Brazilian-born players who will be suiting up for other countries this summer at the World Cup. With competition for the Seleção so intense, an increasing number of Brazilian players are seeking international opportunities elsewhere. The result is players like Deco for Portugal, Dos Santos for Tunisia and Dud for Croatia will all be playing key roles for their adopted countries this summer.

The article lists a few other players, but I imagine there are some more Brazilians that can be added to the list. So I call on you, fair readers, to help us put together the definitive list of Brazilian-born players that will be playing for teams other than Brazil at the World Cup.

Deco (Portugal)
Francileudo Silva Dos Santos (Tunisia)
Dudú (Croatia)
Jose Clayton (Tunisia)
Alex (Japan)
Marcos Senna (Spain)

[...] If you think Brazilian football is not influential enough, read this. More and more Brazilians are joining international football through naturalization. [...]

You forgot Antonio Naelson (Sinha), who is injured at the time, but if he gets well, he’ll do a heck of a job in the Mexican team.
