The Best Goals of Korea/Japan

I was reading about Mexico forward Jared Borgetti’s club vs country row today and I couldn’t help but remember the goal he scored in 2002. Turns out it was one of the top ten of the tournament, at least in this compilation it is considered one of the best. Can’t wait to see the best goals this summer.

I’m glad people are remembering that Borgetti goal. I was watching that game alone in 2002 and I kind of soiled myself when he knocked in that header. Thank you Youtube and google video.

Borghetti’s goal is unforgettable. I’ve never seen a goal from header quite like that… he was running backwards with his back to the goal, nodded the ball with his forehead and caught the keeper on his back foot.

That compilation is only the best goals of the 2002 group stage… that’s why Brazil’s two extraordinary goals vs England are missing.

Great selection of goals, but Ronaldinho’s free kick goal against England was missing from the list. Most people still believes that he was trying to pass, but we can see him turning to the Brazilian bench and read his lips before the kick the words “Vou bater direto” (I’ll shoot to the goal).

No excuse for that goal’s absence in this list.

[...] 3. 2002 – Borgetti’s goal vs. Italy. This goal was posted earlier in the week. A stunner, and in my opinion one of the three best headers in WC history (the other 2 are Pele 1970 and Letchkov’s winner over the Germans in 1994). Again Mexico won their group, but were ousted by their neighbors to the north in the knockouts. [...]

[...] Did you see the Hannover vs. Bremen or Hamburg vs. Dortmund game this week? Man! What a beating! I saw the highlights. Thank goodness Mehdi Mahdavikia was not responsible for any of the four goals Hamburg received. Do you want to get a refresher on the best goals of 2002 World Cup? Click Here then! [...]
