The Basics of German Beer

By: WC Bob | March 18th, 2006 | No Comments »

If you are going to the World Cup this summer you might just have an opportunity or three to sample the many variety of German beers. While your choice inside the stadiums will be limited to the paint thinner that some call Budweiser, your options will be much greater when you are visiting the various host cities. Whether you are a beer novice or beer snob it is helpful to know what you are drinking. It is equally important to know how the stuff you are drinking tonight will make you feel the next morning. I quite enjoyed this article on the Spiegel website which breaks down the various types of brew and what they do to you. Among other things, I learned that under no circumstance should I go within a 1km radius of any place serving Goassnmass - a mixture of beer, cola and cherry liquor or Asbach Uralt, a sweet brandy.
