That’s not a Miracle, that’s an Argentina Goal

By: WC Bob | June 27th, 2006 | 6 Comments »

Desperate times call for desperate measures. Three Argentina fans were so intent on seeing their team play against Mexico on Saturday that they bought discounted tickets in the stadium’s handicapped section. They went so far as to show up in the games in wheelchairs, but alas their deceptive plan came to a crashing halt after they were ejected from the stadium because one of them was jumping up and down, dancing in excitement.

One of the three, who gave his name as only Gustavo (no, it wasn’t Maradona), told Folha de SP: “Our friend couldn’t stop jumping and a person near us thought there was a miracle happening.”

It wasn’t a miracle, but that Maxi Rodriguez goal in extra time so was pretty darn miraculous.

Let this be a lesson to all of you. If you are going to scam your way into a stadium you should support a team that isn’t exciting. We recommend Serbia and Montenegro.

Reminds me of when someone I know tried to sneak a keg of beer into the Kentucky Derby. Using a wheelchair. And a floppy hat.

Didn’t work.

But I have to think the shame experienced by those Argie fans was worth it. Sweet win. Awesome memory.

Makes me think of how serious the security/organization is. The moment they noticed the guy wasnt actually disabled, he was thrown out.

It makes total sense, but it still sounds pretty alien to me.

Roger that, Buzo. If most of countrymen would EARN a living instead of seeking something for all too often nothing in the courts, we would have a better and more responsible world. AND the wheelchair trick is understandable because tons of people have had virtually no chance to land a ticket (don’t even say lottery to me). I have seen more bad decisions by people here in Germany in this “every man for himself” quest to get a ducat. That alone tells me FIFA is hardly checking any tickets at the gate because there would wars if people were denied entry.
