In Brazil, world cup matches day are holidays. Not officially, but in reality that’s what happens, because nobody goes to schools, and most companies call the day off… unless they do some very important work, in that case they go to work but stop during the matches (or release employees early so they can go home to watch it).

I don’t think the Dutch ‘widows’ are worried about the World Cup fervour. It’s more the weekly club games that unnerve them.

It should be mandatory that for the entire WC, all businesses should close except bars and pubs so we can enjoy the month. Yeah, and if the chicks or anyone else want to complain, they have to wait on us for the whole month.

haha in Iran all schools and universities closed out early on purpose because the admins knew no one would really study (And I think they admins and staff wanted to see the games themselves :D )

Hehe really funny comments from you all and well written Bob. But I think those dutch ladies are too stupid to take those exams.
Lebanon is crazy too about the world cup and we each one has his own flag on the balcony. I have 320 by 240 cm dutch flag on my balcony but the favourites here are Italy Germany and Brazil. Also there are flags in everybody s car. Beirut is flooded with flags !!!
As for universities, most of them finished early this year just because of the world cup but they had to start very early seriously. As for my university, my last final will be on June 10 so I’ll be missing the opening ceremony. Hell no I wont miss it, I ll be finished from studying…
