Sergio Aguero: The Next, Next Maradona
We have to admit that a few weeks back we were puzzled by the amount of people coming to our site looking for information about 17-year-old Argentine midfielder Sergio Aguero. We’d heard the name and we knew he played for Independente, but we still wouldn’t have been able to pick him out of a police lineup even if he was wearing a jersey with his name on it. After watching him play this weekend, however, we rushed out and bought his poster to hang on our bedroom wall. If Lionel Messi is the next Maradona then Aguero is the next, next Maradona.
For those who didn’t see it, the kid scored a pair of goals to lift Independente past Velez Sarsfield in the final minutes. Not only were we impressed by the goals, but we also loved his ability to find his teammates and the overall class to his game. His ability is way beyond his years.
It is no wonder Bayern Munich and teams in England are salivating at the thought of locking him up at a young age.
Argentina is stacked with playmakers this summer and it would be a long shot at best for Aguero to make the Albicelestes, but we sure would love to see him there.
Go ahead and check out this video. You might just rush out to buy a poster of him too. Can’t wait to see him square off against the next, next, next Maradona in 2014.

[...] I just read the Name Sergio Aguero for the very first time over at World Cup Blog. He´s 17 year-old midfielder from Argentina. Having watched this video you might agree with me that he seems pretty gifted and I do understand why there has been such a hype over at WCB. I´m looking forward to seeing a lot more of him in the future. [...]

[...] There’s been a lot of talk about the number of youngsters who are going to be featured in the World Cup this year, but there was hardly any mention of Theo Walcott. Considering he hasn’t played first-team football since being transfered to Arsenal in January, his selection for England’s World Cup team is a bold move by Sven-Goran Eriksson. We’re hoping that a certain coach in Argentina is paying attention to this and that he adds our favorite 17-year-old, Sergio Aguero, to his team’s roster. For those who haven’t seen Walcott in action, below is a video of his brief, but exciting career. He was born in 1989. Good God do I feel old! [...]

I am from Argentina and would be terribly upset if Pekerman does not call Aguero for this World Cup. The “young age” excuse is extremely silly and only leaves me wondering if there is anything “strange” going on in the players selection.
WAKE UP, PEKERMAN…

[...] New Argentina coach Alfio Basil has announced the squad that will taken on Brazil on September 3 in London and the name that sticks out the most to us is that of forward Sergio Aguero. The teen sensation that we have been hyping since the beginning of time might get a chance to show his stuff if he manages to find some playing time in a lineup that includes Lionel Messi and Carlos Tevez. [...] Lionel Messi, I will take credit for being the only one talking about Sergio Aguero way back on April 10, 2006. Flash forward to today where the 19-year-old Argentine is the toast of Atletico Madrid and is tied [...]
