Score for Angola, Get Free Roaming Minutes

The World Cup players will be playing for a lot more than pride of country in Germany. They’ll be hoping to cash in on their team’s success. Portugal’s players are set to make 275,000 euros if they win the title. Spain is offering its players 540,000 euros for a championship. Nike will pay Brazil $6 million for a World Cup win. And our favorite team, Angola?

An Angola bank is offering up $5,000 to every Palancas Negras player who scores a goal during the World Cup. As unabashed cheerleaders of the team, we only hope that bank has a whole lot of money because the Palancas are going to get their fair share of goals on their way to the World Cup championship.

As if that weren’t incentive enough, every player on the team also has received a free mobile phone with $1,000 worth of roaming minutes. We have a feeling they will use every single one of those minutes calling friends and family back in Angola telling them about their wins over Iran, Mexico and Portugal. Hell, if that happens we’ll probably use all of our roaming minutes too.

The Angolan team will earn a fortune if they reach the second round- If the bank is offering that amount of money, then the government will offer much more (the Angolan President is a huge football fan).
