Sacked Togo Coach Polishes His Resumé

By: WC Bob | February 17th, 2006 | 4 Comments »

Coach Stephen Keshi, fired earlier this week by the Togo Football Federation, is busy writing cover letters and reworking his resumé. Keshi can add another bullet point to the resumé today after learning that he has been named Coach of the Year by the Confederation of African Football. This is of course only a mild embarrassment to the folks in Togo who decided that keeping a coach around who helped the team defy the odds to qualify for the World Cup wasn’t possible after his team’s sad showing in the African Cup of Nations. Keshi should take note that World Cup Blog is looking for interns to answer the phones and to open our fan mail. With his resumé we might just grant him an interview.

Amazing than Keshi is sacked by Togo the same week he received that gong as the best manager of Africa. What Togo thinks they are ? They thought because they qualified for the WC, they were suddenly big guns and should have won they ACN ?
It’s a real joke and an other example of ” power player ” because he’s paying for his conflict with Adebayor who is arguably the best player from Togo. Pathetic !
Good luck to Wenger with that caracterial mind who had made tantrums at Monaco as well.

I actually think it was bizarre to sack Keshi so close the the World Cup. Understandable, his team didn’t do well at the Nations Cup but him and the players have been through thick and thin and I thought the Togo Federation should have kept in on board.
They will be looking for a miracle worker to take over but if you ask him, Togo’s adventure to the World cup is going up in the air already.

This is a political move by the fascist TOGO goverment, that knows nothing about football other than it unites their nation.

Has Keshi actually been confirmed as sacked? All I can find are the original stories saying he was sacked and then the follow up’s saying he hasn’t been sacked YET.

I have to agree though, it’s a crazy decision to sack him after his achievements.
