Reactions to the World Cup Roster Announcements

It has been fun checking out the different reactions to the roster selections on our team blogs. The Argentina blog continues to capture my attention with no shortage of passionate fans that agree or disagree with Jose Pekerman’s World Cup selections. I think everyone in Argentina must be a coach. Not a bad thing at all, except if you are actually the guy who heads up the team and you have millions of people scrutinizing your every move.

There’s some good chatter on the Portugal blog where Luis Paulo and the blog readers offer up some excellent insight into Scolari’s selection.

Not surprisingly, there are some passionate fans following Italy and offering up their thoughts on the players who will play for the Azzurri in Germany. It can’t be easy picking the 23 best players in a country like Italy and it is even more difficult to pick 23 players who will please all of the fans.

The reaction to Jurgen Klinsmann’s Germany selection is interesting. Some are saying this is their weakest team ever. I’m not sure I agree with that, but it is a young team that on paper does not seem dominating. But games aren’t played on paper and the 50,000 plus fans backing the team each game won’t hurt.

Even though the Brazil selection was fairly predictable, there is some chatter about the choices that were made and the lineup that should be used to help the defending champions win their sixth title.

The roster selections have brought a lot of excitement to fans in all 32 countries. We’ve compiled the team-by-team roster selections, as well as a breakdown by group. A large round of applause for our bloggers for getting the rosters up so quickly and for providing some excellent analysis. Thanks as well to the readers who have chimed in with their opinions. Keep your comments coming.

This is turning out to be a lot of fun!

Bob, I will be the first argentine blogger to support PERKERMAN(hurraaaayyy!) I see exactly what his strategy is, and i think it is a good one. FOr all those who hate coloccini-relaxe give the brother a chance, he is tall and we need a tall guy back in defense, and we need young legs, so chill and stop hating. I am going to miss the zannetti-samuel combo, but now we have a new defensive lineup, and no matter what, we must back and support our coach. What no one is complaining about is the pickup of MESSI, which surprises me, because thats the real big gamble that peker is making. Messi has had good outcomes in spain b/c he is surrounded by a great team, also when he won the u-20 or whatver, that was not on a world cup level. MESSI, U BETTER NOT F’ UP!!
