No One in Paraguay Likes Football
You would think that Paraguay would be a football loving country. Smack dab in the middle of a continent of football fanaticos, the national team has qualified for its third straight World Cup. But is there excitement about this in Paraguay? Apparently not.
You see, for more than a month now we’ve tried to find a Paraguay fan to blog about their team. We flew to the capital in World Cup Blog’s private jet and went knocking door to door to see if anyone was passionate enough about their team to be part of the World Cup Blog team. Mostly we received puzzled looks and on a few occasions we had the door slammed in our faces.
We spoke at Career Day at Paraguayan schools and explained to the kids what it meant to be a blogger. They were more interested in video games. We stood outside the employment offices and tried to find day laborers who like football. None took our offer.
So the long and short of it is that unlike every other World Cup team this year, Paraguay does not have a blogger on World Cup Blog. This leaves us with no other choice than to call for FIFA to remove Paraguay from the World Cup. Clearly the country doesn’t deserve to be in Germany.
You can do something about this before we take this drastic step. Send an email to bob [at] worldcupblog.com and tell him that you would be honored and thrilled to blog about Paraguay. Heck, at this point you could blog about Uruguay for all we care. No one in Paraguay likes football anyway.

You’ve got it all wrong, Paraguayans love football, they just don’t blog. We’re too busy working, playing football or drinking beer to blog.
