I know he didnt dive, maybe it was that elbow that that “socceroo!” through out at his legs as he was going by, but apparently nobody caught that. and thank you to the person who mentioned that the only contraversy surrounding that game was materazzi’s red card. it disgusts me that materazzi got pretty much the same punishment as zidane, just because the frenchies are a bunch of babies. HOW COME NOONE QUESTIONED WHAT WAS SAID TO TOTTI IN EURO 2004 WHEN HE SPAT IN THAT GUYS FACE FROM DENMARK? us italians know when we have done wrong and deal with it maturely, not whine and complain like your precious ‘zizou’ did. ‘he started it he called me names wahhwahhwahh’ gime a break. pathetic. and cannavaro is the much deserved MVP of the tournament and will lay zidane on his ass anyday. as opposed to zidane who had maybe 3 good games, cannavaro was consistently spectacular throughout the ENTIRE tournament. thats a captain. thats a leader. thats a WORLD CUP CHAMPION. FORZA AZZURRI.

OMG! Sergio that is the single stupidest comment i have even seen posted anywhere. It made me cringe almost as bad as the italian soccer team. An italian telling someone to have self-critisism? HA! Do you even have a word for that? Australians are bitter about the world cup, with good right too. Had you been in the opposite position (which wont happen because ur one of the big soccer powers and stuff like that very rarely happens to u) u would be whinging til the next world cup. I woe the thought of us playing you again…

Aussies,one word: self-criticism. Hold the grudge as long as you want,but try not lose your focus about your team weaknesses and how to fix them. Losing due to a bad referee decision doesn’t make anyone the best team in the world.

Italian haters: you are racist,stop. One can stand any amount of criticism but when there’s a damaging prejudice being enforced,based on nationality,that’s racism. And you were quick finding ghost racist motivations in Materazzi’s words: you are the ones who should get sued because of anti-italian discriminations. We try to keep this as civil as possible,but another country may have become much angrier at some foreign players comments about us.

Hi, I am from Malta and I should say what a show we saw from Zinedine Zidane. Terribly for kids to see. What I shame I must say….. That’s the example he set for children. I’m not saying that Marco Materazzi has a point because he doesn’t. He shouldn’t use heart-breaking words to hurt Zidane either. All in all, both of them were a shame but mostly Zidane. We have to think, the words Marco Materazzi said hurt a lot Zidane for offending his mother and sister. They are very dear to him nd if somoene offends Marco’s family especially kids and wife he will start offending the other persons feelings or else do like Zidane. Hope you got my point.

Anti-Whiner, I know many Singaporeans ( I am of Chinese descent and married to a Singaporean) and I must say that you are giving Singaporeans a bad name by calling people stupid or fools just because they have a different opinion to you. Your words really make me cringe with embarrassment. I don’t know whether you are an expat working in Singapore or a local Singaporean. If you are the latter, you are giving a bad impression of Singaporeans because the many Singaporeans I know do not name call people just because their views differ.

Anit-Whiner, fair play in theory, yes but sadly not in practice in the case of players like Materazzi and Grosso. If you see how Italy ‘won’ the games against Australia and France, people who are thinking people can see that ‘fair play’ was not on the minds of Grosso and Materazzi. For them, it is ‘win even at the expense of integrity.’
