Live: Ecuador 3-0 Costa Rica

Thanks for stopping by today, everyone, and thanks for your comments. A big, big day for Ecuador, as they–and Germany–will move on from Group A. Be sure and check out our other LiveBlogs for the matches coming up later and throughout the World Cup.

Full Time! That’s it. Ecuador are through to the second round for the first time in its history.

90+ mora with nother save. Coffi, call it already!

90+ Oh my lord, Kaviedes had a mask in his pants for the celebration.

90+ GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAL de El Nine !!!!!! Kaviedes with the coffin nail!!!!! 3-0.

90+ Delgado with a dangerous back pass, but cleared away without trouble. Costa Rica is spent now. The writing is on the wall for Ticos I fear.

90:00 Into stopage time now. 4 minutes will be added.

88:45 I ahve to agree with announcer (yuck!). Mendez played much, much better today for Ecuador.

88:20 You can hear the Ecua drums in the crowd.

87:30 Costa Rica still on the attack, trying to will a goal. Where has this urgency been?

86:30 Saborio off of the cross bar! So close for the Ticos.

86:00 Think Suarez and Guimaraes will look back on this match and share a laugh one day? Actually, they probably will; they both seems like good dudes.

84:29 Wanchope threatens, but the Ecua defnse holds again. Wanchope was no factor today (so far). And remember he netted two against Germany last Friday.

83:14 Kaviedes’ header goes over the bar, but a nice run. Centeno is off for Costa Rica.

82:30 Have I mentioned how nice it is to wacth a game without the damn shadows?

81:40 Nothing developing for the Ticos. Ecuador setting up at will.

81:00 A “slow, comfortable kill” says the announcer. Guimaraes on the sideline, still coaching and teaching his players.

79:33 I though Kaviedes would score today, and that was close. Ten minute to go, still Ecuador 2-0.

78:42 Nice work in the box by El Nine, but nice save by Porras for Costa Rica.

78:00 Shot by Centeno way off the mark, but a good thought. Now Delgado wants to be taken off. Geez, what’s going on here?

76:30 Corner for Ticos after a noce Gomez run. Cleared by Ecuador, but a throw in coming for Costa Rica.

75:20 Ticos on the attack, but stopped with ease. Time running out for Costa Rica.

74:13 Kaviedes with some nice movement, but the Ticos head the other way. Still 2-0 for Ecuador.

73:01 Urrutia on for Valencia for Ecuador. Great game for the 20-year-old.

71:54 Ecuador now down to four properly-functioning players. Man do they want the clock to speed up.

70:00 Twenty minutes to go! Now would be a good time for Wanchope to weaving his magic. Now Mora is hurt after being fouled by Saborio.

69:17 Goal by Kaviedes called back for offside. Good call, I think. Close, but offside.

68:00 Espinoza not happy about being subbed. Throw-in for Ecuador near the Tico goal. Cleared easily.

67:30 Jorge Guagua to come on for Espinoza. Say it with me: Guagua.

66:45 Magic spray, stat!

66:01 Looks like Espinoza is all cramped up. We need a MASH unit over here!

65:00 Getting a little chippy out there. Remember, if any player gets two yellows in Group play, he has to miss the team’s next game.

64:15 Kaviedes dfown and in agony. Horrible cruch from the Tico defender, no call by Coffi. Deserved a red.

62:47 La Tri back on the attack, but it amounts to nothing.

61:17 For all of the talk pre-Cup about Ecuador’s inability to handle an aerial game, teams aren’t challenging them enough in that department. Valencia gets the magis spray.

60:20 Valencia down and in pain for Ecuador. That would be a big loss for La Tri. Oh boy.

59:59 Yellow for Mora. Time wasting? Either way, Coffi ain’t havin’ it.

59:15 Great run by Solis. Nice save by Mora. Corner for Costa Rica, but a foul gives Ecuador a free kick.

58:00 Nice shot by Gomez goes wide for the Ticos.

57:00 Still Ecuador 2-0. If this scorline holds, Ecuador can win Group A by just drawing Germany next week. But a lot of soccer left to go.

55:59 Hernandez on for Gonzalez for Costa Rica. Guimaraes still looking for answers.

55:05 Great goal by Delgado. 2-0 will be tough for Costa Rica to overcome, but hthere is still a lot of time.

54:00 GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAL!!! Gol de Agustin Delgado!!! El Tin!!!! Ecuador 2-0 Costa Rica.

53:10 Ecuador still on the attack. But Ulises de la Cruz gets a yellow. For wasting time? Talking back? Not sure.

52:30 Ticos still pushing it. But on the counterattack, Delgado has a nice shot saved by Porras.

51:00 Could be trouble for Ecuador is they sit back and try to protect the lead with so much time remaining.

49:40 Long Gomez shot goes wide, but Costa Rica getting some nice runs here. Still 1-0 Ecuador.

47:50 Tenorio may be slightly dinged, thus the Kaviedes sub. Game slow here at the start of the second half.

46:39 The updating is going a little more slowly here in the second half. Not sure why, but bear with me, and enjoy the game!

46:00 We’re under way! Ivan Kaviedes is on for Carlos Tenorio.

Halftime, Take II. Ecuador was in control for most of the match. Do the Ticos have what it take to steal a opint against the run of play? Their tournament lives depend on it.

Halftime. First stanza ends Ecuador 1-0 Costa Rica. Ecuador had the run of play for most of the half, but come away with only a 1-0 lead.

By the way, the goal was assisted by Valencia, not Edwin Tenorio as I first thought.

45+ Ecuador will get their chances. The question will be whether Costa Rica can attack more in the second half.

45:00 Two minutes of stoppage time. Delgado nearly gets another goal. Should, coulda, woulda.

44:25 Mora comes way out to intercept a long pass to Wallace of Costa Rica.

44:01 Yellow card for Ecuador’s Castillo on the challenge. Didn’t see much, but maybe he talked back to the ref.

43:00 Costa Rica looking livlier now, getting some better chances.

41:44 Nice counterattack for Ticos, but the header goes wide. Saborio looking good for the Central Americans as a sub.

40:59 Ecuador hits the post! Corner kick after a goalmouth scramble. Cleared by Costa Rica.

40:00 Ecuador free kick dies in the Costa Rica wall.

39:23 Jawing between some of the players. Let’s hope Coffi keeps on top of it.

37:47 This game is a matchup of the only two World Cup teams that have unique kit brands. Marathon for Ecuador and Joma for Costa Rica.

37:01 Ecuador still in control, leading 1-0.

36:05 Walter Centeno’s long shot off target for Costa Rica.

35:12 Tico cross intercepted by Mora. Gomez run then snuffed out by Ecuador’s back line.

34:02 Free kick for Ecuador in a dangerous position by sub Saborio. Mendez shoots, but the ball is safely over the goal. Not a bad idea for Mendez.

33:09 Ecuador setting up their attack, but Costa Rica clears it out. Valencia looking good for La Tri.

32:18 Costa Rica is showing a little life after the early substitution. Hopefully for them it will continue. Early goals can hurt.

31:35 Ref Coffi is not a large man, but he is in control. Go Coffi!

30:15 Saborio makes himself known right away by winning a corner. Cleared by Delgado.

29:33 Still Ecuador 1-0. Guimaraes looking for answers. But a one goal lead ain’t much.

28:38 Second yellow for Costa Rica, as Mendez is laid out from behind. Danny Fonseca is off for the Ticos, and Saborio is now on. Not a lot of confidence in Fonseca I see.

26:30 Nice run by Wanchope, but Mora snatches it away. Wanchope is one smoove dude.

25:51 I like Coach Guimaraes’ Tico-colored tie. Well done.

25:00 Costa Rica on the attack, but the ball is cleared by Ecuador. Only to be given away again.

24:09 Back and forth now. Offside on Delgado. Waaay offside.

22:08 Corner for Ecuador, after a Mendez backheel goes off of a defender. Shot by Neicer Reasco sails over the bar. Neicer Reasco is an unusual name. Of course, my last name is Apple, so who am I to judge.

20:59 Ecuador really controlling the ball now. Ticos still hacking away, this time at Delgado.

19:49 Still Ecuador 1-0. Costa Rica need to get better service for Wanchope up front.

18:36 Mendez offside. But it’s good for Ecuador that he’s moving forward more.

17:39 Tico chance rolls out harmlessly for a goalkick. Mora clears it out. More still wearing face paint. Yay facepaint!

17:01 Edison Mendez having a better game today for Ecuador. So far.

16:32 I won’t use names…but these announcers are killin’ me. I can’t believe it, but I miss Tommy Smyth.

15:12 Valencia shot blocked twice. Pressure is on Costa Rica now.

14:45 Little from Wanchope so far. Ecuador on the move again.

13:31 Free kick for Costa Rica. Cleared by Ecuador. Man, no shadows is good shadows.

12:36 Corner headed out for a goal kick. Ticos need to chill, and begin attacking again. But then, Ticos are good at chillin’, right?

11:27 Tenorio still limping a bit, but I’m sure scoring a goal will miraculously pick him up. Ecuador having the run of play. Mendez shot knocked out for a corner. Still 1-0 Ecuador.

10:35 Announcers think it should have been a red card. Free kick gets into the box, but Porras saves it without trouble.

9:31 Yellow card for Marin of Costa Rica. Rough tackle on Tenorio. They’re hacking on Teno today.

8:43 Carlos Tenorio with his second goal of the tournament. Assist by Edwin Tenorio, I think. Very nice work from Ecuador.

7:37 GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAALL!!!!! Goal for Carlitos Tenorio!!! Header. 1-0 Ecuador!

5:55 Delgado has the beginning of a nice run, but it’s snuffed out. Head ref and WCB hero Coffi Codja in control.

5:12 Free kick for Ecuador in Ticos’ half. But Costa Rica get a free kick to clear it.

3:55 Dangerous throw in for Ticos. Cleared by Ecuador. Costa Rica definitely moving forward more.

3:00 Ticos on the attack, foiled by Ecua defense. No shadow problems today!

2:19 C. Tenorio limping, but stays in.

1:45 Just feeling each other out at this point.

0:40 Costa Rica in the 4-4-2 today.

0:00 We’re off! Today’s match is in the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg. If your keeping official score. Reminds me of the Most Serene Republic of San Marino.

Ecuador in yellow, Costa Rica in white. No lineup changes for Ecuador.

Pregame:

Should be underway in the next few minutes. Don’t forget to make your voice heard by leaving comments below during the match. I anticipate a good one. Cross your fingers!

Just 5 minutes! Which old and creaky striker will come through again for his team: Agustin Delgado or Paulo Wanchope?

10 minutes until Ecuador-Costa Rica. Costa Rica needs a result to stay alive. Poland, which lost to Germany last night, will also be rooting for the Ticos to win the match to stay alive. It seems that predictions for this game lean slightly in favor of Ecuador. What do you guys think?

900 seconds to go. Costa Rica doesn’t have a standing army. Ecuador’s national team has its own perfume. This should all make for a peacefully fragrant match, right?

30 minutes til kickoff. Coach Suarez of Ecuador and Coach Guimaraes of Costa Rica are reportedly very good friends. This may mean they will forego the traditional post-match knife fight. I think congeniality demands it.

Less than 1 hour to go!

    ECUADOR BY TWO GOALS
Ecuador has both depth/strength & speed with finesse. At best, Costa Rica may score one goal, but Ecuador will score 2 or 3 goals with twice as many shots on goal.

  • Drunk

I think it will be a very tight game like Saudi/Tunisia game but im thinking Ecuador by 1

  • Hex

If it’s going to be like the Sau/Tun game, let’s get it on!!!! :)

  • Charolastra

Ecuador will take it… 3-1. The group is already defined. Costa Rica does not stand a chance… The group is alrady defined… can’t wait for the Ger-Ecu game. Now, that is going to be an exciting game.

  • anthony

ecuador really impressed me in their first game, i’m looking forward to seeing them back on the pitch…

    i’m saying ecuador wins 2-1

  • Stuart

I’ll go with Ecuador by a goal, regardless of how many each side score. Would like to see CR pull it out, just to add some drama to the group qualifying, but I don’t think they have it in them. We’ll see…

  • anthony

by the way, is anybody wating for the game to start?? this mike&mike in the morning show is really awful..

  • http://www.xanga.com/oneeyeddeer Mike

    vamos, ecuador!

    prediction: ecuador 3-2

  • Kevin

    Ecuador 2 Costa Rica 1

  • Kevin

Poland is gonna want a big Costa Rica win

  • http://www.xanga.com/oneeyeddeer Mike

TVU player keeps crashing on me. Is anyone else having this problem? I’ve tried downloading it from different places, all to no avail.

  • Ubi

Yep allright i think ecuador has got this one in the bag

  • Sal

Costa Rica doesn’t look like it should be playing in the World Cup. They might win my city league, but that wouldn’t be a given.

  • pf

    Another undeserved yellow… **SIGH**

Kevin, I don’t think Poland will really care. They will just play defense so that they don’t leave the cup as total losers (which they really are, sadly)…

  • Pam

Germany and Ecuador playing for the right not to face England. How cool is that.

  • David

Between CR and USA CONCACAF is looking pathetic this tournament. T&T might have to save the day for the region.

  • Sal

They should just call the game now because CR isn’t coming back. Hopefully England and Trinidad will be more competitive.

  • http://www.pierretristam.com Total Football

Every Ecuador goal is a big nail in Poland’s coffin (Poland still has a mathematical possibility of squeaking by)

  • Sal

Wasn’t the wave officially retired in 1998?

  • Kevin

    pf,
Good point.. Not sure if Poland would attack even if you pulled the keeper and told the defense to lay down.

  • Dave

Ecuador isn’t especially impressive but they seem to get the results they want. I bet they put a couple more in today.

  • LeRoyCss

I have switch to spanish language broadcast. I don’t understand spanish but the emotion is there. Very pleasant watching in spanish following your live blog.

  • pf

Being Polish, my cheers go to Ecuador this time! May the better team win, which clearly they are in the top 2 in this group (and game). They deserve another round (especially England — which will be quite the good match!).

Seems like CRC forgot how to play. They are completly lost when they get to the Ecuador’s box.

  • Dave

Does CR ever play with emotion? They look like they could care less about this game.

  • Ubi

    I love apples they rock!

  • Pete

Anybody know where Tonorio plays? I bet after this world cup he moves to a bigger team.

  • Hex

    Mike- still having problems?

  • http://www.xanga.com/oneeyeddeer Mike

    yeah, hex.

  • Pete

Early sub. Costa Rica is searching for answers. Bueler, Bueler, Bueler

  • Sal

Group A might go down as one of the worst in World Cup history. That’s if Group H doesn’t come up worse.

  • Pete

Millions of people around the world are snoozing during this one. I hope the next game is better. Come on England, Come on

  • http://www.pertinentverge.blogspot.com Darkoze

The Equator country, by 2. Late to the game here; still depressed about the Poland-Germany result. Where was God when he was needed?

  • Stuart

I still think Ecuador have the most beautiful kits in the tournament…if only they could enforce a yellow-boots-only rule.

  • http://www.pierretristam.com Total Football

Pete– Edwin Tenorio plays for Barcelona–the Ecuadorian Barcelona, not Spain’s.

  • pf

    Darkoze!

    Deus e Brasileiro!

(God Is Brazilian — and since they are in the cup no one else gets favors for a month or so!)

    ;-)

  • Pete

CR probably has the worst kits. That paint spray look is so 1987.

  • http://www.pierretristam.com Total Football

Carlos Tenorio plays for Al-Sadd, the best professional team in Qatar (United Arab Emirates; they pay well)

  • Drunk

I dunno i think Frances group could be the worst in terms on boring matches… The togo korea game was ok but i think france has to offer something more otherwise they could go a further 2 games without scoring.

  • Kevin

fast updating blog! i’m lovin it! almost as good as watching the game.. well maybe not, but still good!

  • Pete

Drunk, you’re right. France’s game stunk and Togo/s. korea wasn;t great. Germany’s games have been exciting but Poland and CR stink.

  • pf

I have to agree with my “Drunk” friend here…

Group E was very unattractive so far. At least Group H had some impressive goals and some real emotions. Group H was rather dry and rough.

  • pf

Er, correction. Group E (not H) was dry and rough.

  • Pete

Ecuador almost with the nail in the coffin.

  • gogo

    Referee whistles too much

  • Sal

Costa Rica with a chance. They show very little life when they play. They are missing a firey hot head type to pump them up.

  • Griff

about time its startint to look like costa rica is playing better

  • http://www.pertinentverge.blogspot.com Darkoze

    pf,

I’d have to agree with you. In fact, like God, I think most football fans, regardless of the country they’re verbally supporting, are Brazilian in the soul.
When you can seemingly play so effortlessly, well…

  • Sal

Weak yellow from Bob’s hero Cofi

  • http://www.pierretristam.com Total Football

The thing is that a win for Ecuador might be good for Ecuador, but it would put this group to sleep for the rest of the first round. That means the Ecuador-Poland and the Germany-Costa Rica games will be utterly pointless except as exhibitions. So for drama’s sake, Costa Rica should save the day and pull off a win or a draw.

  • Roland

No way is group H the worst. Spain is just much better than their group.

Costa Rica just looks feeble. Ecuador and Germany vying for first is how it should be.

  • Pete

Blow the whistle please and end the misery :-)

  • http://www.pertinentverge.blogspot.com Darkoze

    O.K.,
We’ve basically seen every country play. At this point, what final match would you want to see, for pure football enjoyment?

    Brazil against ?????

Or, would a more enjoyabel final actually NOT have Brazil as 1 of the 2 teams?

  • Shao

If Costa Rica can not change their attack way they should book the air tickets to home.

  • pwnawannab

Roland, I wouldn;t rush putting Spain on top just yet in group H – we only saw one game. And I still see 50/50 responses about that thing. Let’s just wait until Monday.

  • Rod

    Please god…let Costa Rica win!

Ooee ooee ooee ooee Ticos! Ticos!

  • http://blue2rose.blogspot.com Blah-Me

I’m back! I missed Equador’s goal. Ahan. Was it a good one?

Anyways, probably gonna be a 2 – 1 win by Equador?

My prayers are with Costa Rica though.. Go COSTA RICAAA!!!

Mike.. welcome back. And thanx for the audio link the other day. Great help. Now I can double enjoy it.

Second half is on. Good Luck to Costa Rica.

    Salam.

  • gogo

    Nice shot from Delgado

  • http://blue2rose.blogspot.com Blah-Me

Woa. My connection is really bad today. Too too slow. Annoyingly slow!

  • gogo

    Nice Delgado x2:)

  • Pete

Adios Costa Rica. You’re World Cup is over.

  • pf

I say we make CRC row back home and let the Polish team walk barefoot back to Warsaw.

    :-(

C’est la Vie, and this is the World Cup!

  • Sal

Costa Rica shouldn’t be allowed to play in 2010 even if they qualify.

  • http://blue2rose.blogspot.com Blah-Me

Crap!! Goal number 2 by Equador!

Its too early to say anything. But its too early for their second goal as well. So who knows whats gonna happen.

  • Ecuador4Life

Since De la Cruz got a second yellow card in the WC. Does that mean he is out next game?

There may be an earthquake of joy in Ecuador’s highlands but don’t count Los Ticos out entirely: this is not just game of inches but of moments, as a couple of games in this tournament have shown us. Need we be reminded of the Australia-Japan match-up?

  • Roland

Fair enough, pwnawannab. It is premature to make that judgement. Perhaps France will rise and Spain will stumble. We’ll know more soon.

  • pwnawannab

If anyone can help me out with a link to live streaming video or radio – I’d appreciate it.

  • Paddy

This is all setting up for a scintillating Costa Rica-Poland match.

I bet Germany will offer Ecuador an aerial challenge…

  • Sarah

Wow, Ecuador really is playing very well offensively and defensively. Costa Rica needs to increase the pressure. I do predict that Ecuador will advance to the knockout stage.

  • http://pepys_s.rediffblogs.com/ mohan

would anyone want to watch Poland – CR game next week ?

  • Sarah

Hmm. Ecuador and Germany will be an interesting match to watch. It all depends on how each team will exploit the other team’s weaknesses to their advantage.

  • http://pepys_s.rediffblogs.com/ mohan

Germany – Ecuador could be a match worth going miles to see

  • pf

Judging by the way CR is playing today, we migh actually see Poland score in the POL-CRC game (not much but just for kicks).

Either way you look at it, it will be a Trilogy of Tragedy.

The Ecuadorian are now pulling some professional self-fouls, acting hurt, using up the clock, tampering with Los Ticos’ rhythm. Man down, being removed on a stretcher. But the stretcher doesn’t mean anything anymore: the players, especially when they’re not hurt, use it the way they used to use up the clock by sprawling on the grass in the old days, playing hurt. It still eats up a minute or two.

  • http://pepys_s.rediffblogs.com/ mohan

    Razor thin offside !

  • SES

CR needs to step up their game and FIGHT to the last minute. It just seems like they’ve already conceded the victory to Ecuador.

  • http://pepys_s.rediffblogs.com/ mohan

Mora keeps goal and wastes time :)

  • http://www.xanga.com/oneeyeddeer Mike

Hi, Blah. The audio has been golden for me since TVU is crapping out on me. British English is bearable and almost enjoyable for listening, though doesnt compare to Spanish. Any online spanish feeds out there?

  • http://www.pierretristam.com Total Football

Someone asked if the Poland-CR game will be watchable: actually yes, if only to see Los Ticos finish up the Poles, deservedly: the Poles have been playing like a fog in the night (and so far I could say the same about England).

  • SES

CR is seeking revenge apparently by hurting the Ecuadorian players. >.

The CRC morale is dropping by a minute in this game making this rather rough on the eyes.

I guess this is a good time to go and fix a sandwich or two (or get a big McRonald burger, which btw could repalce th Big N’ Tasty on McDonald’s menu).

  • sooz

it is obvious to me that while european teams have spent a lot of time whining about the disadvantages of the new ball, latin squads have simply said “so this is the ball and this is what we have to play with, so let’s see what it can do”. no other teams have had such ultimate control of this ball throughout these games. take a lesson, europe.

  • Ronaldo

Man, what a headache! Last night I only drank 10 caipirinhas, slept with five women and ate 3 picanhas. I do not understand.

  • pwnawannab

sooz, maybe the new ball fits their style of play better?

Ecuador have been impressive in both their games

  • http://www.pertinentverge.blogspot.com Darkoze

Costa Rica will be looking to book a charter flight back home with the USA; save some cash for the 2010 World Cup.

  • Griff

Forget Paraguay, this is the wrold cup for the Soca warriors!! Go trinidad!!!

  • Ecuador4Life

  • http://www.pertinentverge.blogspot.com Darkoze

Any pix on the web of that Kaviedes mask?

  • sooz

pwnawannab: absolutely. I believe that their love of momentum, speed, and using every minute of the game to their advantage. is key. the only european team I have seen with these same attributes is the Czechs, who could give the other teams in that part of the globe a lesson in speed (passing).

and this last beautiful goal btw, is EXACTLY why Equador will go on to hold this group in their teeth. they are going to kick germany’s ass.

  • Griff

with + 5 goals all ecuador has to do is tie germany and they win the group!!

  • http://www.worldcupblog.org/world-cup-2006/liveblog-ecuador-costa-rica.html billy

    Nacho libre

  • pf

    Well Deserved Win.

I wonder why they bother to trade shirts? I mean, it’s like saying we got molested by these guys… whoa. Coool…

GO Ecuador!! Can’t wait to see the GER – ECU game that has now so much pressure on it. Love it!

    Well deserved win!

  • http://pepys_s.rediffblogs.com/ mohan

Is Ecuador the find of this tournament?

  • http://www.pierretristam.com Total Football

Are these guys for real? Wonderful finish for Ecuador in every way, wonderful last twenty minutes. Too bad about the group’s death now that its two winners have been decided, with two games to go; but it’ll still be great fun to see Ecuador taken on Germany: the two leading scorers in the tournament at this time, battling for first place.

  • http://blue2rose.blogspot.com Blah-Me

haha.. bad game for Costa Rica.

I’m looking forward to the next match. Will England keep up their name? Will they disappoint their fans? I know they would break a lotta hearts (dear to me) if they dont win this one.

    :D

  • pwnawannab

For those who are like me behind firewals and proxies – I have been following with this http://www.cbc.ca/sports/worldcup2006/WC2006/flash/en/index.html

No video/audio but it gives you a crowd roar when team scores :) – so you can multitask

  • HurrikaneDIABLO

Nacho Libre indeed! That sh*t was funny yet weird at the same time, Ha!Ha! I wonder if that moment will go down in history.

  • Roland

    Huh, what? Is it over?

Does this mean Ecuador is for real or that Costa Rica is hapless?

  • dar

    HELLO BOYS!

    ECUA 3-0 !!!!

the mask Kaviedes broke out is for Otilino Tenorio, he was one of our best strikers and was looking down on us today

  • SES

Great game! :) The next match between Germany and Ecuador will be thrilling. The German team should be unnerved by the great power of the Ecuadorians.

  • diego

I think the most likely scenario will be Ecuador vs. England on the next round.

  • Santiago

The celebration after Kaviedes goal…When he pulled the mask out of his shorts and put in in his face…Not many people know but that was a classiccal celebration of a great player called Otilino Tenorio. Otilino would have played the world cup if it wasnt for his unfortunate death in a car accident.
When Kaviedes did this I almost cried because of the emotion.
Great way to honor one of the happiest players that ever played this beautiful game!

  • Lex

Guess now we’re in for a pretty boring match between Ecuador and Germany. Both teams are not likely to risk injuries…

  • Ecuatorianita

hello everybody..did you watched the game?.. if you lost it… so sorry it was one of the greatest games in our history… 3-0 bye bye ticos…ecuadorians energy is very difficult to defeat.
for us it was such a great game…here in ecuador everybody enjoyed this game, right now there is a enourmus celebration in the street…so come and join us because we are going to win against those hitlers….German.. be prepare..

  • RAM

Ecuador was great. I am so pproud of my team. Great celebration from kaviedes. Valencia and Delgado were great

  • hoa

ESPN2 commentators seem not knowing the significance behind the celebration after Kaviedes goal. They event joked about it. It seemed they did not do their ‘homework’.

  • Trish

I really want to see that. Any links around? I have looked on yahoo and google.

  • Ali Siddiqui

Dang can’t believe I missed this game…after looking at the highlights I think I missed a very very good game! :( But still Ecuador wins and goes through! Vamos Ecuador! :D
