Lehmann’s Argentina Penalty Notes up for Auction

Remember when German goalkeeper Jens Lehmann took a note out of his socks before stoning Argentina in the World Cup quarterfinals shootout? Whether you are a fan of Germany and want a piece of history or you are a fan of Argentina and want to burn away the bad memories, now you have a chance to purchase the note through an auction that will benefit a charity.

What did Lehmann’s note say?

1. Riquelme left high
2. Crespo long run/right, short run/left
3. Heinze left low
4. Ayala long wait, long run right
5. Messi left
6. Aimar long wait left
7. Rodriguez left

It turned out to be a pretty decent scouting report.

It was a good list and I’ll bet it goes for a fair amount of money.

Really Lehmann didn’t need the list. The only thing worse than the Argentine penalty kicks was their behavior after the match.

Was German victory ever in doubt? Not to the majority of people who understand football. Justice is always served and the team that is both deserving and better usully wins. There is no better example of this than the GERMANY argentina game.

Sorry I meant to post these links before but had some other stuff to do.

First link is the glory of the PK’s and the second link is the shame of Argentine players sucking out after a well deserved lost. Any GERMAN involvement only happened because of argie provocation.

Enjoy the great memories….and remember to always wear your sloppy’s.

I’ll buy it for one dollar

    whats up

  • insearchoffootball

how can u say germany has a better team than argentina … germany only go to the semis because they played at home … germany is the most corupted nation in football … only reason why they have won three world cups in the first place, look at when they won in 1990, or when they beat hungary (who has the best team going around by a long shot) or when they beat holland … all three games were fixed

  • Gene

Can you explain how these games were fixed? I’m not trying to argue I just never heard about this before. Please elaborate because I’m interested.

  • gunter

Everyone knows Argentina overachieved this world cup.

Don’t say Germany is corrupt, we play the game with honour and dignity, can an Argie fan say that? You know the ansewer.

  • a

the Argentinians were provoked by the germans, that’s why they started throwing blows

  • gunter

That’s not true. Argies and French are famous for being very very poor sports. You don’t need to dig into history to see this just look at the past world cup.

  • Drago

Whether there was provocation or not there is no excuse for that kind of behavior. You accept defeat and walk of the pitch, end of story.

  • aseano

germany was the better team in that match. it was obvious. and it was really shameful that it had to end in a fist fight. it was the world stage for chrissake! you’re representing your country and you act like that after a match?

  • moose

I agree that Germany deserved that game. I don’t know why Argentinians typically behave in such a poor fashion when facing defeat. It really was a terrible thing to see at the world cup.

It wouldn’t hurt the Argies to take some etiquette classes.

  • mk

you must have been watching another game, because Argentina clearly outplayed germany

Lehmann’s pulling out a list was a brilliant move. Even if it was just a blank piece of paper it would have had the same desired effect of messing with the Argie PK takers.

I know its been said but I agree that Argentina disgraced themselves after the game.

PS…European soccer continues to set the standard others strive for.

    regards
    john
