Kahn Accepts his Demotion

By: WC Bob | April 10th, 2006 | 1 Comment »

After learning on Friday that he would be asked to carry Jens Lehmann’s water bottles at the World Cup, Germany keeper Oliver Kahn said, “I am surprised about this decision and absolutely disappointed. I will consider my future with the national team over the next few weeks and announce my decision at an appropriate date.” Apparently today was an appropriate date. At a news conference the one time German captain said for the good of humanity he will play for Germany this summer. “I’m not the sort of person who can’t lose,” Kahn said. “The whole team, including Jens Lehmann, will have my full support.” Smart move from Ollie. Lehmann has been on good form of late but he can go through spells where he is an utter disaster. Germany will need both guys before it loses in the second round.
