Hey, Hey, Ho, Ho, Cuauhtemoc Blanco has got to go
An estimated 200 people in Mexico City had nothing better to do on Tuesday than to march through the streets protesting coach Ricardo La Volpe’s decision not to include forward Cuauhtemoc Blanco on El Tri’s World Cup roster. Blanco, best known for a move that works about 7.3% of the time called the Blanco Bounce, still has a legion of fans in Mexico, but La Volpe is not one of them. The coach has left the Club America striker off his World Cup list in part because he doesn’t like Blanco’s style of football. We’re all in favor of a good protest and we’ve been known to attend a rally or two, but taking to the streets in support of a player that is famous for wearing white boots is a bit beyond our comprehension. We think that with or without Blanco, Mexico is going to have trouble scoring goals in Germany.
