Goleo’s Roar: Half naked lion’s sales not good
In what can only be termed as a less than shocking revelation, the company that makes stuffed World Cup mascot Goleo dolls said on Monday that Germans are not eager to let their children sleep with a lion that doesn’t wear trousers. The company, Nici, says that sales of Goleo merchandise have been so weak that it might have to declare bankruptcy. None of this comes as a surprise to us, given Goleo’s low ranking in the history of World Cup mascots.
You can bet Goleo dolls will be selling at a sharp discount during the World Cup. This might be especially welcome news for those who call themselves plushies, as well as people who peddle crap on Ebay for a living.
It also furthers the campaign for those who have called for a new, more appropriate mascot named Prolleo, who will carry beer and wear trousers.
